Feasts of Our Lady... throughout the year

The following text was transcribed from a photocopied list of Marian Feasts celebrated every day of the year. Fifteen years ago, it was kindly passed to me by the late Reverend Bernard Wells, a former Franciscan priest, custodian for the Pilgrim Virgin of Fatima for the State of Connecticut and Assistant Pastor at Saint Patrick's Church in Enfield, Connecticut. May he rest in peace. And may all who peruse this gift of Father's love share his joy found contemplating Mary's beauty.

Everyday of the year, somewhere, someone is celebrating a special feast of Our Lady to pay Her some particular tribute on a very definite occasion.

Everyday of the year, everywhere, for every Marist, is each day a special day of tribute to Mary. Every day must be one of closer union with Mary in order the better to serve Her Son.

It is hoped that this little calendar will be a reminder of Our Lady's feasts so that all Marist devotees may join in thought to praise Her, to honor Her, to love Her.

She is especially our Mother. Everyday is our Mother's Day.

Mary is our particular glory and pride. For us, She is everything, our very life, our sweetness and our hope, as we pray in the Salve Regina. Every Saturday and all Her great feasts are for us special occasions for honoring Mary and for doing more for Her.

For a Little Brother of Mary, everyday should be Mary's day. Everything we are or have belongs to Her as Her very own. She has done everything. To make Mary relive in us and in the hearts of others is Our great ambition. It is our cherished duty and privilege to put the stamp of "Mary-likeness" on everything that we come in contact with. Each moment of our lives reflect Her life so that it shall not be we who live, but Mary, in us. We must be so like unto Her that people will say of every Marist: "He's just like his Mother!"

May Our Blessed Mother lead us along, each day in Her special way. May She enkindle our hearts with such love for Her that we will do nothing save through Her. May She inspire everything we do with Her own intimate love, so that Our Lord may constantly rejoice in heaven because Her love again ascends from earth as it did during Her life. Her heart was aflame with love of Jesus. Marists must keep that flame burning brightly, daily! If we keep our hand in Our Lady's everyday will be Mary-like; everyday will be Christ-like.
