What's New

    Colonial Cousins Revisited

In 1940, a renowned genealogist from Norfolk, Virginia, Garland Evans Hopkins, privately issued the book "Colonial Cousins" - "being the history, genealogy, heraldry, homes and traditions of the family of HOLLOWAY and related families originating in the original shire of Charles River, now York County, Virginia." Earlier this year, with the gracious permission of Mr. Hopkins' daughter, Nancy Phillips, executor of her father's estate, James D. Holloway, Jr. was authorized to complete an updated revision of this much loved work. Though physically challenged with a weakened and pained back, damaged in a Dallas hospital (of all places), Mr. Holloway, together with Holloway family researchers from across the country, are putting the finishing touches on an illuminating rewrite entitled

Containing nearly four times as many lineages, multiple charts, a significant section on the family's English ancestry and approved excerpts from "Holloways of England, Colonial Virginia and the South", this detailed update of Garland Evans Hopkins pioneering research is being formatted to print as an 8 1/2" x 11" softbound edition - suitable for accepting future additions. By year's end, we expect to set up an Online Order page. If a substantial number of people request a digital version, Colonial Cousins Revisited will be released on CD-ROM. As we turn the corner on the year 2000, come back soon. This resource work, sixty years in the waiting, is guaranteed to become a Holloway family classic.

    Windmill Pointe Quarterly

A shortage of Web resources has postponed this Internet periodical.

For interested parties, its focus was (an hopefully will be)...
...the genealogy of the Holloways of the South and allied families (Hinton, Mathews, Fox, West, Walker, Palmer, Tanner, Tompkins, Evans, Baker, Ragsdale, Maddox, Carter, Murphy, Pennington, Moore, Jones, et als.). These materials contain numerous supporting documents and charts dating from the 12th century to present times.

At the author's request, all of his records -- including the knighted pedigree to the family in England -- have been passed to his immediate family. Please do not email us for them.

If you're looking for someplace quiet,
a retreat from the toils and tears of modern times,
a respite from life's stressful snares,
a few moments of solitude and silence,
then pull up a chair,
close your eyes, inhale... exhale slowly, count to ten and relax.

In the beginning...
